If you have a suggestion for another “simple” document we could offer, we are happy to take suggestions. Please email support@willsfromhome.law.

What is the conflict check and why is it required?

Before we prepare or review your documents, South Carolina ethics rules require a conflict-of-interest check. This helps ensure Lowcountry Legal Solutions, LLC can represent you for this limited-scope matter without a conflict with existing or former clients, adverse parties, or other ethical restrictions.

During checkout you will confirm your understanding and provide identifying information (such as your name and, if applicable, your spouse's name) for the check. You may continue completing the questionnaire while the check runs. No documents are generated and your card is not charged unless the conflict check clears and an attorney later approves your documents.

If we identify a conflict or cannot proceed, we will email you promptly. Your information will be securely deleted, no payment will be processed, and no documents will be delivered.

What happens after I submit my order?

A typical order moves through these steps:

  1. Conflict-of-interest check at the start of the wizard (you may keep going while it runs)
  2. If cleared, a conflict-approval email with next steps and your password delivery code (save this email)
  3. Complete the questionnaire and sign the Limited Scope Engagement Agreement at Review & Submit
  4. Save your payment method securely; your card is not charged yet
  5. Document preparation and attorney review (most reviews within 24 hours)
  6. Secure email delivery of approved PDFs with signing instructions (use your delivery code)
  7. Your card is charged only after attorney approval

How does attorney review work?

After you complete the questionnaire, your responses are compiled into a summary and submitted for review. A licensed South Carolina attorney checks completeness, accuracy, and compliance with state law. Once approved, you receive your documents by secure email along with signing instructions. If we need clarification, we will contact you before finalizing your documents.

How long does attorney review take?

Most reviews are completed within 24 hours. If we need additional information from you, we will reach out before completing the review.

What is limited-scope representation?

Limited-scope representation means you engage the firm for a specific task: preparing and attorney-reviewing the documents you select through this service. You receive meaningful legal review on those documents without the overhead of a full estate-planning engagement, ongoing representation, or unlimited legal advice.

What is the Limited Scope Engagement Agreement?

Before final submission, you review and sign the Limited Scope Engagement Agreement on the Review & Submit step. It confirms that you are hiring Lowcountry Legal Solutions, LLC for a specific, limited task: preparing and attorney-reviewing only the document(s) you selected—not full estate planning or ongoing representation.

You also confirm that your payment method may be saved now but will not be charged until after a licensed South Carolina attorney approves your documents. The engagement is subject to a successful conflict check and final attorney approval.

You must check the required consents and type your name as your electronic signature to proceed to payment.

When am I charged?

At checkout, your payment method is saved securely through Stripe. Your card is not charged at that time. You are charged only after a licensed South Carolina attorney approves your documents for delivery.

How are my documents delivered?

Once an attorney approves your documents, we send them to you by secure email as PDFs, along with an instruction packet that explains how to sign and execute them under South Carolina law.

Your legal instrument PDFs (for example, your will or power of attorney) are password-protected. The password is an eight-character delivery code with no spaces or hyphens. This code is included in the email you receive when your conflict check is approved—save that conflict-approval email in a safe place. Cover letter and instruction packet PDFs are not password-protected.

If you cannot find your delivery code, email support@willsfromhome.law and we will help.

Is my personal information secure?

Yes. Your information is encrypted and stored securely. It is shared only with our legal team as needed to prepare and review your documents. We do not sell your information to third parties.

Do I need to be a South Carolina resident?

Yes. Our documents and attorney review are tailored to South Carolina law. If you live in another state, you should consult a local attorney.

How do I properly execute my documents?

Your delivery includes step-by-step execution instructions. In general, South Carolina law requires proper signing, witnesses, and notarization depending on the document type. You are responsible for executing your documents correctly; we provide guidance in your instruction packet.

What are the limitations of this service?

This service is not a substitute for comprehensive legal, tax, or financial advice. It is designed for straightforward situations. You may need a video consultation or full estate planning if you have:

  • Complex estates or unusual assets
  • Business ownership or significant tax planning needs
  • Blended families or complicated family dynamics
  • A need for a trust (for example, to avoid probate)
  • Ongoing legal advice beyond document preparation

Can I update my documents later?

Life changes, and your estate documents may need to change too. To obtain updated attorney-reviewed documents, place a new order through the site with your current information. If you have questions about a prior order, contact support@willsfromhome.law.
